This is the Nature's Classroom Wiki but MMS has several other wikis. Mrs. York's LA class has a writing wiki. Mrs. Menton's LA class has a writing wiki. Mrs.Menton also put together a wiki for photos of other MMS events.

While we were at Nature's Classroom we had hoped that some of the 6th grade students would do some writing and sharing of their adventures away from home on this wiki but due to technical difficulties this did not happen. So now that we are back at MMS Mrs. Menton is asking students to write about their week and to post their writing to the web along with some of Mrs. M's pictures of our adventures here.

Check back for further updates. Until then here are a few "nature" pictures from last year at Camp Jewell. Enjoy.
There is now a link on each day to pictures from this year. So far there are no captions but perhaps the students will add some soon.

Below I have also included a map of where we were for the week: Camp Jewell, a YMCA camp located in Colebrook, Connecticut.
(If the Google map does NOT load or show up on your page go to a different page and then come back here and it should appear. Not sure why it plays this game of hide and seek but it does like to do so on my computer.)

The weather was as lovely as last year, until Wednesday evening when it rained during out Underground Railroad simulation. We luckily didn't get soaked but we did get a bit wet. The rain continued on Thursday and again pleasantly suprised us by ending prior to moving out Friday am.

Some of the canoes by the shore of the lake at Camp Jewell. These canoes were still here but not in the same order. Glad to know they have been used since we were last there!

A resident of the "farm" at Camp Jewell. There were still llamas present and hissing when provoked.

Several of the residents of the barn at Camp Jewell. Not sure if these fine feather friends were still running around but some of their relatives were still present.

A quiet day lakeside at Camp Jewell last year. This year the colors were past and more leaves were down.
