This will be our first, but not last, FULL day of fun at Nature's Classroom. One wonders how much sleep anyone will get that first night.
More to come.
Pictures from Day 2 - mainly morning - lunch - sliding down the slide - going off to class.
I loved the food. Waffles sticks are good! Also playing with four newts was so cool but kind of gross. I named them Edward, Alice, Jacop, and Emily. I also liked learning how to juggle. jb
The first day was really fun, but kind of confusing! We were just getting used to what to do and when. I got lost so many times that day! I remember ending up at the farm instead of the mess hall. It was fun to take classes and try to navigate with your friends. When you're in a class or in your field group, you're like feel like you're lost! You always end up some where cool, though. -leigh
Tuesday we got to do two classes. My first class was a pond biology with Papa Bear. During that class I got a really nice, big net, and when I plunged it into the water the mesh part of the net fell off, and I was left with a wooden stick. So I had to try and get it out of the water which was hard considering the rocks. I told Papa Bear, and he said to fix it. So once I did that I went to a different location, and it happened again except it was a higher rock. I told Papa Bear and he said to just leave it. Then I got stuck with a net that's mesh had a hole in it. But on the bright side we caught fish, salamanders, newts, and this freaky, huge, biting, black beetle. Overall Tuesday was a really great day at Nature's Classroom. - Jenna
Tuesday was the first day of field group. My field group leader was Martin, and he gave each and every member of our field group nicknames that he would call us for the rest of the week. There were a variety of names from Midnight to Cherry Blossom. When he asked me what I wanted to be called, I had no idea what I wanted my nickname to be, so another member from my field group said,"You should be Baby Bear." There were chuckles from all around the table, and since I couldn't think of anything better, Baby Bear was what I was called for the rest of the week, and even though it wasn't the best nickname in the world, it brought laughter to our field group whenever someone needed to tell me something.
